DO DONG HYUN to be RELEASED before I-League.
Eventually the break-up seems to be eminent between EAST BENGAL CLUB & DO DONG HYUN. If sources are to be believed , Dong would be released with a golden handshake by the Red & Gold Officials. As it is also heard that gaffer Trevor Morgan is already in talks with 2 Asian Foreigners who could replace the Fan`s Favourite DO DONG HYUN. It seems Morgan is very focused to win the I-League this time around as it might be the last I-League for the Red & Gold Brigade (possibility of merging of ISL & I-League from next year). The British defender Calum Angus & Nigerian striker Somide Adileja is already released after the Bordoloi Trophy.
This news would be a real shocker for thousands of EB fans , because the DONG chapter was not an ordinary story in the history of East Bengal.
The Love story which began in the beginning of 2015-16 season. Much to the surprise of many EB fans the recruiters named DO DONG HYUN as their ASIAN QUOTA FOREIGNER for the season 2015-16. Dong played for ISL side NORTH East United in the very first season of ISL i.e 2014. Dong featured in 8 matches but never scored. Dong was sighted by another Left footed Indian Sensation & East Bengal Club`s brand ambassador Alvito D`Cunha. It was learnt that Alvito insisted the officials to sign this young & talented attacking midfielder. Initial 3 months for DONG was just like HONEYMOON for the South Korean Lad. From his Debut match for East Bengal vs Tollygunge (his set-piece got converted by H.Khabra) till last match against arch-rivals Mohun Bagan it was shere Class with Execution !! In the process Dong became the highest Goal Scorer in the Calcutta League. His goals came in tough time & against nearly all opposition. Goals against Mohun Bagan & Md Sporting would be remembered in the long history of Calcutta League. East Bengal was crowned the champions for the 36th times.
Then came the turning point of his Stint with EB when he played in the I-League for EB where he was burdened to score goals just like he did in Calcutta League. He wasn`t able to perform as expected from him. He didn`t score nor created many. Ended up with tussles against his coach & finally losing his place in playing XI. At the end of the I-League though he scored against Mohun Bagan & Bengaluru but didn`t helped the causes of his team. The Post-Martum of failure in I-League revealed the failure of key player like Dong`s performance a big reason ! Also in Fed Cup under Trevor Morgan , Dong`s performance was Lack-Lustre.
This year from the beginning of season Dong was not able to prove his mettle, this time it was in Calcutta League also. Morgan wasn`t happy with Dong`s performance. Finally in the Bordoloi Trophy in Assam he didn`t play well. In the reports of interim coach Mr. Ranjan Chowdhury it was stated that their was questions on his dedication while playing.
So, it would be first time when “The Best Player” of last season (awarded by EAST BENGAL CLUB) would be axed by the club for poor performance. Also on this note we would wish DO DONG HYUN, Best of Luck for his Future ahead. From REAL POWER we thank DO DONG HYUN for the glorious days which he gave us while playing for our beloved club.
