East Bengal Club & Mohun Bagan AC to play in the new Indian Super Cup League alongside ISL Teams

The news from the capital city of India raised some eyebrows ! 29 club representatives were present to participate in the meeting of AIFF about the future of Indian Football. The meeting have concluded strangely to a decision which indeed is “SURPRISING”.. From the season 2017-18 top four teams from the I-League & top four teams from ISL will clash in a new tournament called ‘INDIAN SUPER CUP’. Notedly I-League will have 3 different leagues, as I-League Division 1 , I-League Division 2, I-League Division 3. ISL will not see any team to be relegated, but I-League 1 will have relegation which will be filled by champions of I- League 2 (same process for I-League Division 3). The tournaments will take place at the same time from September to March spanning for 6 months. The champions & runners up team from Indian Super Cup will get an opportunity to play in the AFC Cup. So from the season 2017-18 Indian professional players would have to decide wether they will play ISL or in I-League as because both the league will run simultaneously. Big question comes over how could teams like East Bengal & Mohun Bagan having team budget of 15 cores (avg) compete against ISL teams having a budget of 40crores (avg). Now the fact is will the new Indian talents sign in for clubs in I-League ?

From the prospective of Indian Giant Clubs like East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, Dempo & many more will there existence be challenged ?? Clubs having formed for more than or near 100 years will now have to make teams to compete against big budget teams from ISL. But where will they get this huge money from ? Mohun Bagan are sponsorless for 2 years now & East Bengal, Churchill, Sporting are also facing financial problems to make teams now-a-days, in this huge financial crisis the burden of making that extra bit will be tough !

Hoping against Hope that the historical Indian Football clubs get good sponsors for next season around to survive !

In one word it will be ‘MONEY vs PASSION’ in Indian Football Arena !
