East Bengal FC is all set to start their Second Leg of 2015-16 Hero I-League at Margao, Goa against mighty Salgaocar FC.
The Red & Gold Brigade finished the first leg at second place, one point behind arch rivals Mohun Bagan.
However, the Red & Gold Brigade will have to face the acid test at the start of the second leg.
If we go with the statistics then we will find that East Bengal’s performance is pathetic against Salgaocar at Goa. Till now both the team had played 11 times at Goa in I-League. The Red & Gold brigade had won only twice, while they lost six times and the rest three were draw. East Bengal last defeated Salgaocar FC in way back in 2013 January by 4-1. So as per the statistics, the Red & Gold Brigade is far away from their actual potential.
However, things can be different this time as East Bengal FC is showing decent performance in this marathon league. The top form of Ranty Martins and Mohammed Rafique, the inclusion of Bernard Mendy will obviously give East Bengal the edge in the attacking line.
On the other hand, Salgaocar FC's defence was the centre of attention against Mohun Bagan and it crumbled under the pressure. Eder Moneiro had his worst performance in the Salgaocar so far. It is now the weak link in Salgaocar FC’s defence line. So this could be a disadvantage for the home side.
So going through the present form and performance, it can be said that though Salgaocar FC is always strong in their home ground, but this time East Bengal have a slight edge on 1st March encounter.
