East Bengal FC look to remain atop against unpredictable Neroca FC.
While everyone bids adios to 2017 and prepare to greet the arrival of the new year 2018 East Bengal FC would also look to end the year in the pole position of I-League 2017-2018.
The last match against Gokulam Kerala FC where a spectacular strike by Md.Rafique ensured the Red & Golds edge past league leaders Minerva FC to be the new league leaders based on goal difference. The match also gave Khalid Jamil some serious injury concerns when Eduardo Ferreira limped in the first half after a marvelous block from Kamo Bayi, but the major blow came in the second half when Rohit Mirza committed a horrific tackle on the "Japanese Samurai" Katsumi Yusa. After the Rohit Mirza was given marching orders and was rushed to the nearby hospital with a tibia shaft fracture revealed in the x-ray reports. However, minutes, after Katsumi Yusa managed to get back into the field, was substituted by Suhrabuddin Mallick & remains doubtful to start against Neroca FC.
Team Info:- With pivotal Katsumi Yusa almost certain to be out of the equation against Neroca FC the East Bengal FC gaffer might reshuffle things a bit in the center of the park. Cavin Lobo might return after warming bench in the previous two matches to partner "Syrian Wizard" Mahmoud Al-Amna, Charles D'Souza who looked out of sorts against Gokulam FC might be replaced with Brandon Dsouza as he is perfectly adept at playing in high altitudes and environment.Lal Ram Chullova might replace Prakash Sarkar in the right back position as he was often caught off-guard by Bayi Kamo in the last match.
Neroca's Dream Run:- The new entrants from Manipur has been a surprise package in this years I-League. After losing their opening fixture against Minerva FC the team has gained momentum & remains undefeated to date. They triumphed their last match the North Eastern Derby beating Shillong Lajong by a solitary goal earning the bragging rights. Felix Chidi, Singham Subhas Singh playmaker Israilov Akhlidin can be a thorn in the flesh for the Red & Gold's who had consistently leaked goals at the back. Playing at home Neroca FC will always be a tough nut to crack. Currently, they are 3rd in the I-League table with 10 points from 5 matches and a win against East Bengal FC with a margin of three or more goals can throttle them into the new league leaders of I-League 2017-2018.
It is all expected to be a mouth-watering clash as Neroca FC at home will try to grab the bragging rights. They have already managed to surprise and garner points against a Kolkata giant in form of Mohun Bagan AC. East Bengal FC, on the other hand, might at least to gather a point from this sturdy fixture.
Telecast Tale:- The mouth-watering clash will be aired live from Khuman Lampak Main Stadium Imphal on Star Sports 2 @2pm 30th September 2017.It can also be streamed in Hotstar.
