India defeated Guam to Register First Win in World Cup Qualifying Round
India finally won points in Group D of Russia 2018 World Cup Preliminary Joint Qualification Round 2 match at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.
Ex East Bengal player Robin Singh scored a world class goal in 10’ to give India three points against Guam whom India lost earlier by 1-2.
India dominated the entire match but was downed to 10 men when Sehnaj Singh was flashed the red card in 43’ for a rough tackle. However, still with one man short India dominated the proceedings and ensured that they get first win the in qualification stage.
After registering their first win of the World Cup Qualifiers, even after being down to 10 men for 52 minutes, Indian National Team Head Coach Stephen Constantine praised the Indian Team for their ‘togetherness’, ‘unity’ and “sticking together come what may.”
