Kingfisher East Bengal Face DSK Shivajians On Republic Day
Kingfisher East Bengal will be facing new comers DSK Shivajians for their fourth round of I-league encounter at Barasat tomorrow evening. The Kolkata giants currently in third position at the points table along with Mumbai FC with 5 points from three outings. The league leader former champion Bengaluru FC with 9 points thanks to their all winning run, the Kolkata outfit will like to secure full points from this match in order to be in the run for the title. Moreover this being the first home match of the Red & Gold brigade they will want to start on a bright note. But all said and done the team from Pune will be no pushover. Comprised of young and experienced players they are finely poised to put up a stiff resistance on a smaller ground at Barasat. The major strength of the Shivajians is their defensive organization. With the former Indian defender Dereick Perreira at the helm of affairs who is famous for his shrewd tactical moves all and tons of experience the Pune boys will be avery tough nut to crack. They have Subrata Paul who is deservedly called Spiderman for his agility and reflexes will stand guard under the bar .The central Defense has Justin Stephen who has played for teams like Prayag United and Mumbai FC. The Pune team has recently signed former French International Jeremy Labor who has the experience of playing for world famous club like Monaco. If he starts tomorrow it will be a daunting task to break down the Shivajians defense. The midfield is comprised of tough tackling Zohaib Islam Amiri and Skillful Dohou Pierre both with years of experience in the league; so Mehtab and company will have to climb a hill to take control of the midfield. In the upfront Aser Pierrick Dipanda, the former Valencia-B member will be partnered by Mohammed Rafi, who was quite impressive for Kerala Blasters in the recent ISL.
So it is evident that the boys from Pune will take a cautious approach by strengthening the defense and hitting on counters. The smaller ground of Barasat will add to their advantage. On the other hand the Kolkata giants will like to score as early as possible. Mr. Biswajit Bhattacharya will probably field the same eleven that impressed in the derby. If required Cavin Lobo may make an entrance later. The current East Bengal team is known for a slow start and pressing in the second half. All the goals the Kolkata team has scored have come in the second half of the match. But that approach may prove counter-productive against a shrewd tactician Like Mr. Perreira. With the passage of time he will close shop completely making it more difficult to score. His special attention will surely be toward Do Dong and he will try to cut down the supply line of Ranty Martins. Ranty with his newly found scoring boots will have the major burden to score and if he succeeds the task will be much easier for Mr. Bhattacharya. His potent weapon Do Dong is yet to find his form in the I-league and the time is ripe for his return. But he must be given a free run in the wings to showcase his ability to his heart’s content.
So in conclusion the match will be a battle of attrition and the team making lesser mistakes will emerge victorious. We, the general fans have a mouth watering encounter to savor.
