Kingfisher East Bengal Looks To Upset & Stamp Their Authority Against Bengaluru F.C .
With the defending champions, Bengaluru F.C off to a flying start with a hat-trick of wins, East Bengal FC would look to cut short their dominance & notch up 3 points when they clash against each other in Hero I-League 2016-2017 at Barasat Stadium on 22nd of Jan.
It would be an acid test for both the title contenders as they face each other for the very first time in the competition. With a sublime form on display, the defending champions would look to tighten their defense with John Johnson & Juan Fernandez that has not conceded yet & apply their pressing game against the Kolkata giants with likes of Sunil Chhetri, Eugeneson Lyngdoh, Kumam Udanta Singh in their attacking thirds. The AFC cup runners up would rely on their main hit man C.K.Vineeth who has already seen the back of the net 4times with 3 appearances this season & fresh from a hat-trick against Mumbai FC in their last match.
The mind games have already started when the Red & Gold boss tagged themselves as the underdog ahead of the clash. East Bengal would bank on their foreign recruits especially number 10 (Wedson Anselme) & 9(Willis Plaza) to score goals. Whereas the big Ugandan (Ivan Bukeenya) would have to man the defense with Arnab Mondal & Anwar Ali nursing injuries. The old horse Mehtab Hossain & Dika would look to strengthen the midfield with Nikhil Pujari U22 who displayed a glimpse of why he is in the first XI ahead of Abinash Ruidas. It would also be interesting to see if the former R.Singh would feature against his old club in Sunday's tie with the big Striker from Kyrgyzstan
Sunday would also see an emotional battle between Mehtab Hossain & Harmanjot Khabra who after serving East Bengal for 7 long years has moved to Bengaluru FC.
All in all its going to be the first real mouth-watering tie in I-League 2016-2017 & Red & Gold Outfit would look to upset the defending champions & stamp their authority in I-League 2016-2017.
