EAST BENGAL the Real POWER -The Official Website

Resilient Pathachakra Goes Down Fighting Against East Bengal FC.

Their current Standing in CFL won't be able to convey their resilience, especially against Kolkata giant outfits. Yet today Pathachakra showed their fighting prowess against the mighty East Bengal FC. The game started on a brighter note for the Red & Gold giants but after 20th min Pathachakra started to get their act together & in 43rd min when Joel Sunday caught young Turk Mehtab Singh flat footed & laid a pass for Jaganath Oran to make it a 1-0 against East Bengal. But East Bengal responded back with waves of attacks lashing towards Pathachakra goal until custodian Subham made a mistake & failed to collect a simple aerial through by Al Amna that fell nicely for onrushing Brandon who on half turn placed the ball neatly inside the far post from a zero degree angle & made it level with Patahchakra just before the lemon break.

The second half saw East Bengal started off all guns blazing even Subham & crosspiece came to rescue for Pathachakra that saw three sure scoring opportunities saved. Sohrabuddin Mallick wasted several open & one to one chances.

At the dying moments, East Bengal was awarded a penalty as Victor shoulder barged AL Amna inside the penalty box, later made no mistake making it 2-1 from the spot.

Though East Bengal FC went to the crest of the league table with 6 wins & 18 points replacing arch rivals Mohun Bagan, the performance on the field was not convincing.

The Trinidad Internationals will be back from their national duties before the next match might impart some relief to Khalid & co .

Man of the Match was awarded to Jagannath Oraon of Pathachakra for his brilliant display in the match.
