Uphill Battle Awaits East Bengal in Aizwal FC.

After two back to back stalemate games, the Red & Gold outfit would be looking to rediscover their dominating form in I-League 2016-2017 entourage when they take on Aizwal FC in their backyard. The Red & Golds with a battle in hands against bogey coach Khaled Jamil & his boys. The team that held East Bengal to a draw in their first match at Barasat Stadium & are currently with 17 points enjoys 3rd position just behind the Kolkata giants would go all out firing cylinders in front of their boisterous home crowd.

TJM & his boys looked a bit tired in their last match against Lajong F.C especially wing & wing back players, who seemed to be clueless unable to cope with sheer pacy attacking build ups carried out by the side from the mountains. The gameplay of the Red & Gold brigade looked a bit predictable with opponents after 9 matches might have sorted out the way to keep Wedson Anselme & Willis Plaza quite. Though the team finished 3 points clear of their arch-rivals Mohun Bagan AC having played a game extra topping the points table with 21 from 9 matches in the first phase of I-League 2016-2017 would look to revive their performance on the field & try to reignite the flame that has been absent since last two games. The last match saw Aussie frontman Chris Payne starting the match only to be subbed after half time would look to make an impact & offer the extra edge in attack that has been lacking.

Arnab Mondal might start against Aizwal considering Gurwinder's injury & a dismal perfromance against Lajong F.C.
Rahul Bheke too could be axed from the first team with R.Gurung at disposal & raring to show his worth in the team, the ex - skipper Robert who had been out with an injury might return to replace Narayan Das . Romeo Fernandes showed some varaiation after being subbed in the last game might get a look in again . The onus would be on Red & Gold Skipper & playmaker Dika who failed to create opportunites in last game.

All in all it's going to be a mouth watering clash between two top half teams & each would look to start strong in 2nd phase of I-League.

The match would be live on Ten2 from 2:05pm on 20th Feb Monday.
