ATK Mohun Bagan played a 1-1 draw against Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on Saturday.
Liston Colaco scored for ATKMB in 18’ while Vladimir Koman equalized for Chennaiyin FC in 45′ right before halftime.
In the 16th minute, Ashutosh Mehta showed excellent skill and tried to create a chance from the right flank. Chennaiyin defenders intercepted the attack before he could hand the ball over to Manvir Singh. After creating a few chances in the opening moments, ATK Mohan Bagan finally got the breakthrough in the 18th minute.
Chennaiyin FC played a lot better in the second half CFC were the more dominant side, they kept the ball better, passed it quicker and the half was played more in the ATKMB half. However, they failed to convert those chances. Edwin Vanspaul came close twice but he too failed to hit the target. ATKMB were relying more on the counter attack.
Chennaiyin FC are yet to face defeat as they go third on the ISL points table with 8 points. ATK Mohun Bagan is at sixth place with 7 points.
Anirudh Thapa won the Hero of the Match Award.
In the next match, FC Goa and Bengaluru FC will lock horn. Meanwhile SC East Bengal will face an in-form Kerala Blasters FC at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Sunday.
