A late header from defender Alan Costa (87′) ensured a triumphant return for Bengaluru FC to the Sree Kanteerava Stadium as the side edged NorthEast United FC 1-0 on Saturday in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23.
But the match ended in acrimony when an injury-time equaliser from Jon Gaztanaga was ruled out for offside, much to the chagrin of the coach Mark Balbul, who was sent off for protesting.
Alan Costa won the Hero of the Match Award.
In the next match Hyderabad FC will take on Mumbai City FC in Pune on October 9. Meanwhile, East Bengal FC will next play against Goa FC at home on October 12.
