Bengaluru FC won the first eliminator match by 1-0 after Kerala Blasters FC forfeit the match in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 match at Sree Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru on Friday. Bengaluru FC will now face Mumbai City FC in semi-finals.
The match went to extra time and it was going all well until Sunil Chhetri put the ball in the back of the net from a free kick in 95′.
In a moment of confusion, while the Kerala Blasters’ defensive wall was being set up by the goalkeeper, Sunil Chhetri scored the goal and referee Crystal John allowed the goal.
Kerala Blasters FC’s players were also seen arguing with the match officials before they were led out of the field and into the dugout by their manager Ivan Vukomanovic.
Bengaluru FC players continued to remain on the ground along with the referees after KBFC players walked off.
After waiting for the 30 minutes of extra time to end, the match officials, in consultation with ISL authorities, blew the full-time whistle, declaring BFC as the winner.
Sunil Chhetri was adjudged with Hero of the Match Award.
