Chennaiyin FC pulled off a hard-fought 1-0 win over Hyderabad FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 match at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim on Tuesday.
Vladimir Koman (66′ P) scored from the spot to give Chennaiyin FC a winning start.
The new look Chennaiyin FC started the match in back foot as Hyderabad FC dominated proceedings. Hyderabad FC wasted a couple of chances in first 45 minutes. Chennaiyin FC slowly progressed in the game and then with some counter attacks earned a penalty in 65’ that Vlagyimir Koman converted and handed Chennaiyin FC the lead.
Hyderabad FC will be disappointed, as they were the better side but still failed to close the game in their favour.
The Club Award was won by Chennaiyin FC while Vlagyimir Koman won the Hero of the Match Award.
Next Odisha FC will face Bengaluru FC. Meanwhile, SC East Bengal will next play against ATK Mohun Bagan, the famous Kolkata Derby, on November 27, Saturday.
