Chennaiyin FC defeated NorthEast United FC 2-1 in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 in Fatorda on Saturday.

Laldanmawia Ralte gave NorthEast United FC the lead in the 35’, however, Ariel Borysiuk (52’) and Vladimir Koman (58’) got Chennaiyin FC back in the game within a space of six minutes.

The result means CFC have now jumped to third place from seventh with 18 points from 12 matches while NorthEast United FC remain at the bottom of the table having collected just nine points from 13 games.

Slavko Damjanovic won the Hero of the Match Award.

Next on Sunday there will be two matches, Bengaluru FC versus FC Goa at 7.30 pm IST followed by ATK Mohun Bagan versus Odisha FC. Meanwhile SC East Bengal will face Hyderabad FC on January 24, Monday at Tilak Maidan Stadium.
