Chennaiyin FC defeated Odisha FC 2-1 in Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai on Sunday.
Ankit Mukherjee gave Marina Machans the lead in 5′. Roy Krishna in 78’ equalized for Odisha FC. Jordan Murray in 90+4’ scored the winner for the hosts.
Connor Shields was adjudged Key Performer of the Match.
Despite the loss, Odisha FC remained on top of the table with 35 points, with better goal difference compare to Mumbai City FC. However, Mumbai City FC played 17 matches compare to Kalinga Warriors’ 18. On the other hand, Chennaiyin FC with 18 points from seven matches, brighten their chance for top six finish along with Bengaluru FC, Jamshedpur FC, NorthEast United FC, Punjab FC and East Bengal FC.
Chennaiyin FC will next play Hyderabad FC on March 9, whereas Odisha FC face Bengaluru FC on March 30.
