East Bengal FC made a stunning start to their Durand Cup 2025 journey, thrashing South United FC 5–0 at Salt Lake Stadium.
Defender Lalchungnunga opened the scoring with a long-range strike in the 12th minute. Saul Crespo doubled the lead from the penalty spot before halftime.
In the second half, Bipin Singh, Dimitrios Diamantakos, and Naorem Mahesh Singh added to the tally with three well-taken goals. East Bengal dominated possession and looked sharp throughout, leaving South United struggling to keep up.
It was a perfect opening night for coach Oscar Bruzon, whose side now sit comfortably at top Group A.
