East Bengal FC defeated HOPS FC 1-0 in Group A match of the Hero Indian Women’s League 2023 (IWL), at Transstadia on Friday to book quarterfinal place. Red & Gold Brigade also ensured their place for 2023-24 Hero Indian Women’s League.

Earlier, East Bengal FC lost opening match against Gokulam Kerala FC by 8-2, defeated Kahaani FC 1-0 in the second while Mata Rukmani FC 2-0 in third, defeated Mumbai Knights FC 4-2 in fourth while played a 1-1 draw with Misaka United in fifth, lost to Sports Odisha 2-1 in sixth match.

For East Bengal FC, Ratna Halder scored from penalty in 35′.

East Bengal FC finished at third place in group A with 13 points from 7 matches.

In quarterfinals East Bengal FC will face Sethu Madurai FC at Transstadia in Tuesday, May 16.
