East Bengal FC defeated Lebanon’s Nejmeh SC 3-2 in Group A match at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, Bhutan on Friday to secure a direct quarter-final berth at AFC Challenge League 2024-25.
Dimitrios Diamantakos scored a brace in 15′ and 77′ (P), while an OG from Baba Musah (8′) helped the Red & Gold Brigade to net three goals. Collins Opare (18′) and Hussain Monther (42′) pulled back two goals for Nejmeh SC.
Earlier, East Bengal FC played a 2-2 draw with Paro FC and defeated Bashundhara Kings 4-0. Thus the Red & Gold Briagde finished on 7 points in Group A.
East Bengal FC will face Arkadag FC of Turkmenistan in the Quarter-finals which is scheduled to be played on 5th March at Kolkata (first leg) and 12th March at Ashgabat (second leg)
