East Bengal FC lost their opening match to Crystal Palace FC in Next Generation Cup 2024 at Villa Academy Ground.

In regulation time East Bengal lost by a solitary goal. Finley Marjoram scored the only goal of the match in 24′ for Crystal Palace FC. Then the Red & Gold BRiagde lost the penalty shootout by 2-4.

In Next Generation Cup after the regulation time, the teams will face off in a penalty shootout regardless of the full-time score. The team that wins the game in regulation will receive 3 points for their victory and the winner of the penalty shootout earns a bonus point. Thus Crystal Palace earned four points.

Despite the loss Crystal Palace FC coach Rob Quinn praised East Bengal FC players for their discipline in the game.
