East Bengal FC lost to Shillong Lajong FC 2-1 in Quarterfinal of Durand Cup 2024 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Wednesday.
For Shillong Lajong FC, Marcos Rudwere in 8′ and Figo Syndai in 83′ scored the goals while for East Bengal FC Nandhakumar Sekar pulled back one in 77′.
Earlier, Red & Gold Brigade qualified for knockout stage after finishing Runners-Up in Group A. East Bengal FC defeated Indian Air Force Football Team 3-1, Downtown Heroes FC 3-1 and shared one point with Mohun Bagan SG as the match was cancelled amid protests over doctor’s rape and murder in Kolkata. The Red & Gold Brigade finished with equal points with Mohun Bagan SG but placed second in group on goal difference.
