East Bengal FC lost to Sports Odisha 2-1 in Group A match of the Hero Indian Women’s League 2023 (IWL), at the Shahibaug Police Stadium on Tuesday.

Earlier, East Bengal FC lost opening match against Gokulam Kerala FC by 8-2 and defeated Kahaani FC 1-0 in the second while Mata Rukmani FC 2-0 in third, defeated Mumbai Knights FC 4-2 in fourth while played a 1-1 draw with Misaka United in fifth match.

For Sports Odisah, Rekha Poudel in 60′ and Ritu Devi in 90+4′ scored while for East Bengal FC, Mousumi Murmu scored one in 63′.

East Bengal FC now dropped to 5th place in Group A with 10 points from 6 matches. They will have to win the last match against HOPS to qualify for Quarter Final and 2023–24 Indian Women’s League.

East Bengal FC will next face HOPS on May 12 at Transstadia.
