East Bengal FC started their Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 campaign with a loss against Kerala Blasters FC at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi. The match was played in front of 34978 attendance, first time in two years.

There was no such high expectations from Red & Gold brigade, as the team build-up, practice and combination building started too late like last two years. East Bengal held KBFC for 70 minutes.

For KBFC, Adrian Luna 72′, Ivan Kaliuzhnyi 82′ & 89′ scored the goals, while for EBFC, Alexandre Lima in 88′ pulled one back.

Ivan Kaliuzhnyi won the Hero of the Match Award.

East Bengal FC will next play against Goa FC at home on October 12. In the next match, Bengaluru FC will take on NorthEast United FC.
