Argentina goalkeeper Martinez lifted the Golden Glove for best goalkeeper in 2022 FIFA World Cup at Qatar. The Aston Villa goalkeeper did some fabulous saves throughout the tournament to help Argentina win the World Cup for third time.
He did a spectacular save against Australia in Round of 16 in the dying moment of the match. He also made a wonderful save late in extra time to deny Randal Kolo Muani a goal which would have put France ahead for the first time.
He had been the hero of Argentina’s quarter-final victory over the Netherlands, making two saves in the penalty shoot-out and one in final of Kingsley Coman.
