FC Goa defeated Bengaluru FC by 2-1 in the 101st match of Indian Super League (ISL) 2020-21 at Fatorda Stadium.
FC Goa was today clearly a better side. They had more ball possession and more shots on target. Early goals from Igor Angulo (20’) and Redeem Tlang (23’) had left Bengaluru FC with a mountain to climb in a must-win game. However, Suresh Wangjam’s (33’) goal gave some hope to the Blues, but the Gaurs played excellent football throughout the second half to ensure their unbeaten run count to 12 games.
The loss for Bengaluru FC means that they are out of playoff qualification race. On the other hand the win for FC Goa means that there will be a three way race for remaining two playoff spots, in between Hyderabad FC, NorthEast United FC and FC Goa. FC Goa is now on 30 points with one game left, while the other two are tied on 27 with two matches remaining.
The DHL Winning Pass of the Match Award was taken by Alexander Jesuraj. The Hero of the Match Award was bagged by Glan Martins.
In the next match Kerala Blasters FC will lock horn with Chennaiyin FC.
Meanwhile ATK Mohun Bagan will play against Hyderabad FC on 22nd February while SC East Bengal will meet NorthEast United FC on 23rd February.
