FC Goa defeated Chennaiyin FC 1-0 in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim.
Jorge Ortiz (82’) broke the deadlock with a sublime long-range goal late in the game. The solitary goal was enough for The Gaurs to secure three points.
The result denies the Marina Machans from breaking into the top-four places in the points table. They stayed at sixth place with 14 points while FC Goa climbed to eighth place with 12 points.
Next Chennaiyin FC will face Hyderabad FC at the PJN Stadium on Thursday whereas FC Goa will be up against NorthEast United FC at the Athletic Stadium on Friday.
Anwar Ali won the Hero Man of the Match Award.
In the next match, Kerala Blasters FC will lock horn with Hyderabad FC. SC East Bengal will clash with Jamshedpur FC at the Athletic Stadium on Tuesday January 11.
