FC Goa defeated Chennaiyin FC 5-0 in ISL 2021-22

FC Goa kept their slim playoff hopes alive with a 5-0 win against Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Wednesday.

Jorge Ortiz (20’, 41’, 53’) scored a hattrick after Makan Chothe (6’) opened the scoring for the Gaurs with Narayan Das (45’ OG) putting the ball in his own net.

FC Goa back to winning ways after a gap of five matches, moved to 18 points from 16 matches and doing their goal difference a world of good. They remained in ninth place. For Chennaiyin FC, it was their second consecutive loss, they remained on 19 points from 16 matches and placed eighth in the points table.

Jorge Ortiz won the Hero of the Match Award.

In the next match, Jamshedpur FC will lock horn with Kerala Blasters FC. Meanwhile, SC East Bengal will next face Kerala Blasters FC at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Monday, February 14.
