  • 79 nations till daate have played in FIFA World Cup
  • 13 nations have played in FIFA World Cup Finals: Germany, Brazil, Italy, Uruguay, Argentina, France, Croatia, the Netherlands, Spain, England, Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Sweden

  • Sweden’s Nils Liedholm in the oldest goal-scorer in a FIFA World Cup final in 1958. He was  35 years and 264 days old at the time.
  • Brazil’s Pele and Vava, France’s Zinedine Zidane and England’s Geoff Hurst each have scored three goals in World Cup Finals.
  • Netherlands’ Johan Neeskens scored the fastest goal in a FIFA World Cup final in the 1974 edition, he scored  through penalty in 90 seconds against West Germany.
  • The 1994 final between Brazil and Italy saw the score remain 0-0 till extra time. This remains the only instance in the history of FIFA World Cup finals that both teams failed to score after extra-time ended.
  • Two Finals were decided on penalties – The Brazil vs Italy final in 1994 (Brazil won 3-2) and Italy vs France in 2006 (Italy won 5-3)
