Gokulam Kerala FC defeated Sethu FC 3-1 on the final match day to retain the Indian Women’s League (IWL) in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
Gokulam finished the season unbeaten with 11 wins from 11 matches, recording 33 points, three more than the second-placed Sethu FC.
The two sides came into the game with 10 consecutive wins each and required a win to seal the title. Both the team produced brilliant performance, however, the Kerala side finished at top.
Renu Rani in 3′ gave Sethu FC the lead, however, Ashalata Devi from penalty in 14′ equalized for Gokulam Kerala, while Elshaddai Acheampong in 33′ and Manisha Kalyan 40′ scored the other goals.
