India won the second International friendly against Nepal by 2-1 at Kathmandu. The first match remained 1-1 draw. The friendlies were in preparation of the SAFF Championships, which will be held in Maldives from October 3 to 13.
Skipper Sunil Chhetri lead from the front as he scored one and assist the other one. The first friendly was a tough one for Blue Tigers as Nepal was very organised hence the team had to raise its bar on Sunday to come out on the positive side of the result. India head coach Igor Stimac made a lot of changes in the side for the second friendly.
The first 45 minutes remained 0-0 as neither side could open the score. In the second half in 61st minute Farukh Choudhary gave India the lead. Chinglensana Singh forwarded a through to Sunil Chhetri who headed it towards unmarked Farukh. Farukh made no mistake as the Blue Tigers took the lead.
In the 81st minute Skipper Sunil Chhetri scored the second goal on counter attack. Amrinder Singh clearance went to Anirudh Thapa who played a perfect through pass to Sunil Chhetri. Skipper did not made any mistake.
In the 87th minute Nepal scored back one through Tej Tamang who from a long range shot scored the goal.
Nepal had their chances but lack of better finish cost them the match. On the other hand Blue Tigers will have to work on the defense department.
