India came from behind to qualify for their maiden AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup qualification after defeating Uzbekistan 2-1 in their last match of the qualifiers, at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium, in Bishkek, on Friday.

Shakhzoda Alikhonova in 38’ gave Uzbekistan the lead, however, Thandamoni Baskey in 55’ and Anushka Kumari in 66’ scored to seal Young Tigresses place in 2026 AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup China. India finished top of Group G with six points. The Young Tigresses had last featured in the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup in 2005, when 11 teams participated directly.

Along with India U17 Team, India Senior Women’s Team and India U20 Women’s team also had qualified for their respective AFC Asian Cup 2026.

India U17 Starting XI:

Munni, Elizabed Lakra, Divyani Linda, Julan Nongmaithem, Anushka Kumari, Pearl Fernandes, Ritu Badaik, Valaina Fernandes, Bonifilia Shullai, Abhista Basnett, Nira Chanu Longjam.
