India defeated Estonia 4-3 in their first match of the Turkish Women’s Cup 2024 football tournament at the Gold City Sports Complex in Alanya, Turkey, on Wednesday.
It was a historic win for the Indian women’s football team as it was their first victory against a team from the UEFA confederation in an official match. Before this, India played Belarus, Ukraine and Romania, and lost all the three matches.
For Blue Tigresses, Manisha Kalyan (17’, 81’) scored a brace while Indumathi Kathiresan (62’) and Pyari Xaxa (79’) scored one goal each. For Estonia, Lisette Tammik (32’), Vlada Kubassova (88’) and Mari Liis Lillemae (90’) scored a goal each.
India will next face Hong Kong China on Saturday.
