India defeated Nepal 1-0 to progress to the final of SAFF U-19 Women’s Championship

The Indian U-19 Women’s team progressed to the final of the SAFF U-19 Women’s Championship 2021 after defeating Nepal 1-0 in their last group stage match at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Shipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium, in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Priyanka Devi scored the only goal of the match in 66’.

The first half of the game was a rather quiet affair, with both teams creating many chances but failed to convert. However, India came back strongly in second half and created more opportunities for themselves. Finally they got the reward in 66’ when Sumati Kumari entered the Nepal box from the left, forwarded to Priyanka, whose shot brushed off a defender, before hitting back of the net.

India will face host Bangladesh in final to whom they lost 0-1 in Group Stage. India finished with 9 points. Earlier, they defeated Sri Lanka 5-0 and Bhutan 3-0. In the first edition of the tournament India finished third.
