India defeated Oman on penalties to win Bronze in CAFA Nations Cup 2025 at the Hisor Central Stadium in Hisor, Tajikistan, on Monday. In regulation time the match ended 1-1 and then the Blue Tigers hold their nerves to beat higher ranked Oman 3-2 on penalties.
Jameel Al Yahmadi gave Oman the lead in 55′ while Udanta Singh Kumam equalized for Blue Tigers in 80′.
Oman was down to 10 men in extra time as defender Ali Al Busaidi was sent off.
In penalty shootout, Lallianzuala Chhangte, Rahul Bheke, and Jithin MS scored for India while Anwar Ali’s spot-kick was saved and Udanta missed. For Oman, Thani Al Rushaidi, Muhsen Al Ghassani scored while Harib Al Saadi and Ahmed Al Kaabi missed their shots and Captain Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, in dramatic fashion, saved the last shot Jameel Al Yahmadi to ensure India wins the match.
Earlier, India finished at second place behind Iran with four points in Group B. India defeated host Tajikistan 2-1 in opening match, lost to Iran by 0-3 in second match and played a goalless draw with Afghanistan in their final group stage match.
