India defeated Pakistan 5-2 in SAFF Women’s Championship 2024 opener in Group A match at the Dasharath Stadium on Thursday.
The match was also Ashalatha Devi’s 100th appearance for India, the first Indian woman footballer to achieve that feat. Ngangom Bala Devi became the first Indian woman footballer to score 50 international goals for Blue Tigresses.
For India, Grace Dangmei scored a brace in 5’ and in 42’ while Manisha in 17’, Bala Devi in 35’ and Jyoti Chauhan in 78’ scored a goal each. Suha Hirani in 45+2’ and Kayla Marie Siddique in 47’ pulled back two gals for Pakistan.
Grace Dangmei was adjudged Player of the match.
India will next face defending champions Bangladesh.
