India defeated Sri Lanka 8-0 in 2025 SAFF U19 Championship in their Group B opener at the Golden Jubilee Stadium on Friday.
For India, Prashan Jajo (17’, 62’), Danny Meitei (26’, 31’, 50’), Md Arbash (40’), Omang Dodum (48’), Singamayum Shami (81’) scored the goals.
India will next face Nepal on May 13.
This is the third edition of U19 tournament. India won the 2023 edition defeating Pakistan in final at Nepal. In 2015 inaugural edition, host Nepal defeated India on penalties in final.
