India have been drawn in a tough Group A, along with eight-time champions China, three-time winners Chinese Taipei and debutants Iran, in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022.
India gained automatic qualification as host for the 2022 edition of the AFC Asian Cup and will be playing the tournament for the first time since 2003.
The tournament will be held from January 20 to February 6, 2022 in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pune.
2010 champions Australia, 1983 champions Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines are in Group B. Reigning champions Japan, along with South Korea, Myanmar and Vietnam are in Group C.
Top two teams of each group and two of the three best third-placed teams qualify for the quarter-finals.
Indian Women team finished runners up twice in 1979 and 1983.
