India fought brilliantly before losing to Japan 8-4 in their last Group D match of the AFC U17 Asian Cup at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday.

India were forced to make one change to their starting XI, as Mukul Panwar slotted in at centre-back in place of the suspended Pramveer.

India fought well, especially in second half, when they pulled back four goals in a span of 32 minutes.

For India Mukul Panwar in 47′, Danny Meitei in 62′, Daiki Miyagawa 69′ OG and Korou Singh in 79′ scored the goals.

For Japan, Gakuto Kawamura in 14′, Gaku Nawata in 41’and in 45′, Shuta Nagano in 52′, Kohei Mochizuku in 54′, Yotaro Nakajima in 74′, Gota Yamaguchi in 90+6′ and Shungo Sugiura in 90+7′ scored the goals.

India XI: Sahil Poonia; Ricky Meetei, Surajkumar Singh, Mukul Panwar, Malemngamba Thokchom; Gurnaj Singh Grewal, Danny Meitei (Akash Tirkey 88′), Vanlalpeka Guite; Korou Singh, Lalpekhlua Ralte (Gogocha Chungkham 90+3′); Thanglalsoun Gangte (Shashwat Panwar 85′).
