India U-19 Women’s Team suffered a 0-1 defeat against hosts Bangladesh in their third encounter of the ongoing SAFF U19 Women’s Championship in Dhaka.
India had earlier registered comfortable victories against Sri Lanka and Bhutan in the first two matches.
Shamsunnahar scored the only goal of the match in 7’ from penalty spot for the host.
Mature Bangladesh team dominated the proceedings, but Indian Women had an excellent opportunity in the 40’ when Sumati Kumari passed a ball to Mariyammal who took the shot from her left but went straight into the hands of the Bangladesh goalie Rupna.
India in second half started the game with more control and had many opportunities to equalize but Bangladesh’s goalkeeper Rupna saved the day for the host.
India next play Nepal in their last match on Sunday. Bangladesh moves to the top of the table with 7 points while India are second on the table with 6 points.
