Defending champions India suffered a 1-0 defeat against hosts Nepal in the SAFF Women’s Championship 2022 semi-finals in Kathmandu on Friday.

The loss means that it will be the first time in the history of the SAFF Women’s Championship that India will not play in the final.

The Indian women’s football team had won all of the previous five editions of the tournament since its inception in 2010.

Playing under rainy conditions at the Dasharath Rangasala Stadium, Nepal’s Rashmi Kumari Ghising (46’) scored the only goal of the match in the injury time of the first half.
