Indian men’s football team began the three-nation Hung Thinh friendly tournament with a 1-1 draw against Singapore at the Thong Nhat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on Saturday.
Singapore’s Ikhsan Fandi (37’) scored the opening goal of the match before India’s Ashique Kuruniyan (43’) equalized. It was the first football match between the two sides in 10 years.
India (ranked 104) missed multiple chances in the second half to take the lead against Singapore (ranked 157). India will play hosts Vietnam at the same venue on Tuesday.
