India won the SAFF U17 Women’s Championship 2025 at Changlimithang Stadium, Bhutan, on Sunday. The Young Tigresses despite losing the final round robin league match to Bangladesh by 3-4, crowned Champion, having earned an unassailable lead in the points table.
The Young Tigresses concluded the SAFF U17 Women’s Championship with five wins and one loss.
For India, Anushka Kumari in 9’, Pritika Barman in 65’ and Julan Nongmaithem in 89’ scored, while for Bangladesh, Sauravi Akanda Prity scored a brace (49’, 90 +5’), Purnima Marma (1’) and Alpi Akter (34’) scored goal each.
Earlier, India defeated Nepal 7-0, Bangladesh 2-0, Bhutan 8-0 and 5-0, Nepal 5-0. India have scored 30 goals in the tournament.
This is the third time India won the title. Earlier they won in 2018 & 2019. They finished runners-up in 2017 & 2024 while third in 2023, India skipped the tournament in 2022.
Bangladesh had won twice in 2017 & 2024, while Nepal won in 2022 and Russia in 2023.
The team will now travel to Bengaluru to continue preparations for the upcoming AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers in October in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.
