Chennaiyin FC’s chances of progressing into the playoff received a blow following their goalless draw against Bengaluru FC in the 83rd match of Indian Super League (ISL) 2020-21 at Fatorda Stadium.
Marina Machans had created more than half-dozen chances, but could not convert any of them to numbers. The Blues, on the other hand, were lucky to get a point from the match after some crucial saves from Gurpreet Singh.
Today Gurpreet Singh created a new record with most clean sheets in ISL history. He has gone past Subrata Paul’s ISL record of 28 cleansheets. The 29-year-old has achieved the feat in 74 appearances with four cleansheets in this season.
The draw put Chennaiyin FC on eighth place with 17 points, and without a win in five matches. On the other hand Bengaluru FC remained at sixth place with 19 points.
Manuel Lanzarote won the DHL Winning Pass of the Match Award. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu bagged the Hero of the Match Award.
On the next match Odisha FC take on ATK Mohun Bagan.
SC East Bengal will lock horn with Jamshedpur FC on 7th February.
