Italy and England played a dull goalless draw in League A Group 3 match of UEFA Nations League at Wembley Stadium. In the other match of the group Hungary held Germany to a 1-1 draw. Italy remained on top in group with 5 points from three matches. Hungary remained at second place with 4 points followed by Germany 3 and England 2.
It was heartbreak for England the last time they played Italy in the Euro final at Wembley Stadium. They would have loved to avenge that loss on penalties but a goalless draw in this Nations League match meant their wait will continue. The Three Lions could have benefitted from home support but no fans, barring a few hundred school children, were allowed inside the Molineux. England were being punished for the Wembly final fracas that saw fans without tickets gatecrashing the stands.
Roberto Mancini on the other hand has used this tournament as a way of blooding new players and beginning the generational shift following the EURO 2020 triumph and then failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
