Italy suffered a humiliating 5-2 defeat at the hands of Germany in UEFA Nations League, League A Group 3 Match at Borussia Park.
Before this match, the Azzurri were at top of the group with five points, while Germany had drawn all three matches. This result drops Italy from first to third as Hungary earned a shock 4-0 victory away against England.
For Germany, Kimmich in 10’, Gundogan through penalty in 45’, Muller in 52’, Werner 68’ & 69 scored the goals, while for Italy Gnonto in 78’, Bastoni in 94’ scored back two.
Roberto Mancini is using this tournament as a way of blooding new players and beginning the generational shift following the EURO 2020 triumph and then failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup. However, experiments finally caught up with Roberto Mancini. They changed nine players from the side that drew 0-0 with England, keeping only Davide Frattesi and Gianluigi Donnarumma.
