Jamshedpur FC continued their unbeaten run in the season as they defeated ATK Mohun Bagan 2-1 in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 encounter at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim on Monday.

Seiminlen Doungel (37’) scored the opener for the Men of Steel and Alex Lima (84’) scored the second after coming on as a substitute late in the second half. Pritam Kotal (89’) pulled one back for the Mariners.

Jamshedpur FC showed the right intent and made a positive start attacking and pressing ATKMB for most part of the game. The goal resulted from one such attack in the 37’ when Jitendra Singh created the opening by releasing Doungel unmarked inside the ATKMB box.

ATK Mohun Bagan continued to struggle for most of the opening half, however, Roy Krishna created a good opportunity in 42′, but Eli Sabia was quick to react and cleared the ball from the line.

ATK Mohun Bagan put up a much-improved show in the second half but failed to equalize as both Krishna and Hugo Boumous were marked well by the Jamshedpur FC defence.

Lima scored the second goal for the Men of Steel in the 84’ after arriving as a substitute and while Pritam Kotal in 89’ scored a consolation goal for the Mariners.

The win took Jamshedpur FC to the second spot in the ISL points table as ATK Mohun Bagan dropped to fifth place.

Jitendra Singh won the Hero of the Match Award.

SC East Bengal will next play against FC Goa on December 7, Tuesday at Tilak Maidan Stadium.
