Greg Stewart scored a spectacular first-half hat-trick as Jamshedpur FC defeated Odisha FC 4-0 in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Tuesday.
Stewart scored in 4’, 21’ and 35’ while Peter Hartley scored in 3’ for the Jamshedpur FC.
Peter Hartley gave ‘The Men of Steel’ the lead in the 3’ and one minute later, Stewart made it 2-0 grabbing on a mistake from the Odisha FC defence.
Stewart was in the form of his life, completing his hat-trick in the 35’ after he stepped past a few defenders and fired past the keeper at the far post.
In the second half ‘The Kalinga Warriors’ tried to create chances and open their goal account and narrow down the margin but were not able to.
Greg Stewart won the Hero of the Match Award.
The result means Jamshedpur FC jump from fifth to second in the points table with 11 points from six games. Odisha are in fourth position having nine points from five games.
On Wednesday, Mumbai City FC will be facing Chennaiyin FC. Meanwhile, SC East Bengal will next face NorthEast United FC on Friday.
