Liverpool beat Chelsea in the FA Cup final to secure its second silverware in the 2021-22 season winning 6-5 on penalties. This was the eighth title for the Reds and the first under manager Jurgen Klopp. This was the second time the Liverpool defeated Chelsea on penalties, with the previous occassion being the EFL League Cup final.
Saturday’s win means Liverpool remain on course for an unprecedented Quadruple of trophies. They are three points behind Manchester City in the Premier League race with two games to go and meet Real Madrid in the Champions League final on May 28. Earlier they have won the EFL League Cup.
For Chelsea, it meant an unwelcome record of becoming the first side to lose three FA Cup finals in a row, after losing to Arsenal in 2020 and Leicester City last year.
