Liverpool performed a dominant 2-0 victory over Villarreal in the UEFA Champions League semifinal first leg at Anfield on Wednesday.
Villarreal have shown a remarkable run in the knockout stages as they stunned giants Juventus and Bayern Munich in pre-quarterfinals and quarterfinals respectively.
Liverpool was very much aware of the Spanish team’s performance and played accordingly. However, Villarreal hardly could troubled the host and as a result Liverpool took a big step to reach their third Champions League final in five years.
For Liverpool Sadio Mané scored in 55′ while Pervis Estupiñán scored an OG in 53′.
The two sides will meet again in the return leg at the Estadio de la Ceramica on May 3.
