Mumbai City FC begins title defence with a 3-0 win over FC Goa in ISL 2021-22

Defending champions Mumbai City FC defeated FC Goa by a convincing 3-0 margin in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 match at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on Monday.

Igor Angulo continued from where he left last season as he scored twice (33′ P, 36′) within three minutes in the first half while Ygor Catatau (76′) scored the other goal on his debut.

Igor Angulo played for FC Goa last season and won the ISL Golden Boot award.

Mumbai City FC started slowly, but gained the momentum in between 33’ to 36’ as Igor Angulo scored a brace to give the defending champions a two goal lead at halftime.

The Gaurs tried their best in second half and were looking to get back to the game but the third goal for MCFC ensured their three points on their first game.

Mumbai City FC won the Club Award while Igor Angulo won the Hero of the Match Award.

Next Hyderabad FC will play against Chennaiyin FC on November 23. Meanwhile, SC East Bengal will next play against ATK Mohun Bagan, the famous Kolkata Derby, on November 27, Saturday.
