Mumbai City FC defeated Bengaluru FC 3-1 in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 at the Bambolim stadium on Saturday.

For Mumbai City FC Igor Angulo (9′), Mourtada Fall (54′), Ygor Catatau (85′) scored the goals while for Bengaluru FC Cleiton Silva (20′) scored one back.

Mumbai City FC started with the same playing eleven that played against ATK Mohun Bagan. On the other hand, Bengaluru FC brought Jayesh Rane back into the starting lineup. Cleiton Silva and Prince Ibarra started together for the first time this season as well.

Igor gave Mumbai City the lead in 9’ through penalty while Silva equalized for Bengaluru FC in 20’. The Blues had a golden chance to take the lead in 44’ as Edmund Lalrindika won a penalty for them but Sunil Chhetri failed to convert and Mohammad Nawaz made a sensational stop.

The first half ended at 1-1, but Mumbai City FC took the lead within 10 minutes of second half through Fall. Bengaluru FC struggled for momentum after conceding the lead. They did manage to create a few chances but failed to convert any. On the other hand, Mumbai City FC played with aggression and thus sealed the match in the 85’ through Ygor Catatau.

Lalengmawia won the Hero of the Match Award.

On Sunday, Kerala Blasters FC will be facing Odisha FC. Meanwhile, SC East Bengal will next play against FC Goa on December 7, Tuesday at Tilak Maidan Stadium.
